再也不能擼備品?各大酒店集團開始放棄小瓶裝備品

住酒店最常見的討論話題之一就是備品。一般每個品牌的酒店都有其獨家合作的備品品牌:比如廣受好評的華爾道夫的 Salvatore Ferragamo/麗思卡爾頓的 Asprey/艾迪遜和柏悅的 Le Labo 以及廣受吐槽的瑞吉的 Remede 等等。備品的好壞會直接影響住店體驗,羊毛客們更是會毫不客氣的薅上滿滿一籮筐備品回家慢慢用。

不過這樣的日子似乎就要結束了?昨天 Hyatt 集團宣布將在全世界範圍內逐漸將旗下酒店的小瓶裝備品換為大瓶裝,預計2021年6月全部完成:

CHICAGO (November 12, 2019) – Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) is announcing a series of initiatives to reduce waste at Hyatt hotels globally, including introducing large-format bathroom amenities and reducing single-use water bottles by June 2021. The following initiatives will be introduced as soon as possible in properties around the world, and no later than June 2021:

  • Transitioning to large-format bathroom amenities to replace traditional small bottles of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion.
  • Increasing the number of water stations in key public spaces at hotels for guests who wish to refill reusable water bottles.
  • Serving water in carafes or other containers for meetings and events; bottled water will be available by request.

其實早在 Hyatt 之前,IHG 和 Marriott 就已經於今年早些時候宣布將逐漸停止使用小瓶裝一次性備品,以後全部改為大瓶裝:

  • End of the road for bathroom miniatures as IHG opts for bulk-size amenities to reduce plastic waste

    IHG® (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world』s leading hotel companies, has today announced that its entire hotel estate of almost 843,000 guest rooms will switch to bulk-size bathroom amenities, with the transition to be completed during 2021. Building on its efforts to reduce plastic waste as part of a broader sustainability agenda, this pledge makes IHG the first global hotel company to commit all brands to removing bathroom miniatures in favour of bulk-size amenities.

  • Marriott International To Eliminate Single-Use Shower Toiletry Bottles From Properties Worldwide, Expanding Successful 2018 Initiative

    Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) today announced that it』s expanding an initiative to replace tiny, single-use toiletry bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel in guestroom showers with larger, pump-topped bottles. To date, the company has already rolled out larger bottles at about 1,000 properties in North America, and now expects most of its other hotels to make the switch by December 2020. When fully implemented across the globe, Marriott International』s expanded toiletry program is expected to prevent about 500 million tiny bottles annually from going to landfills; that』s about 1.7 million pounds of plastic, a 30 percent annual reduction from current amenity plastic usage.

至此,Hyatt/IHG/Marriott集團都表示會在未來一兩年內「消滅」小瓶裝備品,Hilton是否跟上目前看來只是時間問題。簡單來說,以後大家在各大集團酒店看到的就基本上是下圖裡那種嵌入在牆上的大瓶裝備品了。

為什麼酒店集團會如此想要取代小瓶裝備品呢?公開的原因主要是環保:從Hyatt/IHG/Marriott的新聞稿中,大家無一例外能看到的動機都是減少塑料的使用。在大部分情況下,酒店的備品一般都用不完,就算內容物可以回收了再製成別的東西(我只知道酒店用不完的肥皂會被回收了做成新肥皂送去貧困地區,備品裡面的東西我不是很清楚如何處理的),小瓶裝備品確實會產生很多額外的塑料垃圾。換成大瓶之後就是「鐵打的瓶子流水的洗髮液」,確實可以省掉很多塑料和麻煩。從這個角度來說,我其實是比較支持換大瓶的。

還有一個隱形原因酒店集團肯定不會明說,那就是節約成本。一瓶瓶用了一半的備品,酒店除了扔了或者回收也做不了啥,然後客房清理時必須換成新的。但如果是大瓶裝,瓶子擦一擦,然後隔段時間灌滿就好了,不存在用不掉必須扔掉的問題。可以預見的是在備品上的支出能省掉很大一筆。又環保又省錢,何樂而不為?

但還是有很多人對酒店更換大瓶裝備品的行為表示懷疑甚至反對:

  • 清潔問題:被無數雙手擠過的瓶子,肯定有人覺得不衛生。甚至要是有人惡作劇往瓶子里弄奇怪的東西,清潔人員如何發現呢?
  • 及時更新:萬一清潔人員大意了沒有更新,豈不是用一半就沒了?洗到一半擠不出來了多尷尬。
  • 逼格:酒店套房一般會給接近100ml的備品,而基礎房的就小得多,以後都一樣了,沒法低調裝逼了!

其實這些問題倒也不難解決,但住客確實做不了更多,只能指望酒店人員更上心。有人懷疑可能存在以次充好的問題,這個就算是小瓶裝也可能存在。前段時間就有新聞報道國內香格里拉酒店的備品用的地攤貨…這個其實與備品無關,而是最基本的誠信了。

不過話說回來,誰說換大瓶裝就沒法擼?只怕對有心之人來說可以擼的更爽吧。。。
