Amex Return Protection 退货保护介绍加实战一枚

黑五即将到来,大家是不是已经蠢蠢欲动,准备买买买了?我们经常一时冲动,激情购物,剁完手之后才后悔不已。好在很多厚道的商家提供限定时间内的免费退货服务(例如Amazon Prime有长达30天的退货窗口),避免接下来的一个月吃土。

即便如此,也有不少商家的退货窗口非常短,或者是有严苛的条件(标牌不能拆等等)。这种情况下信用卡也许能帮你一把,把剁掉的手给接上。今天我沿着前几日Jimmy的好文AMEX Purchase Protection的思路,和大家分享一下Amex Return Protection的实战经历。

1. 退货保护定义

Amex官方原文是这么说的:

If you try to return an eligible item within 90 days from the date of purchase and the merchant won’t take it back, American Express may refund the full purchase price (excluding shipping and handling), up to $300 per item, up to a maximum of $1,000 per calendar year per Card account, if you purchased it entirely with your eligible American Express® Card. Please read important exclusions and restrictions.‡

简单地说,如果商家不愿意接受退货,那么你可以在90天内向Amex发起退货保护申请,如果批准Amex会退给你物品本身+税的部分,而运费、手续费这些就不退了。每次退货保护的上限是300美元,每个日历年的上限是1000美元。

2. 覆盖范围

Amex对于退货保护有几个明确的要求:

  • 首先你必须用Amex的卡支付物品的全部金额,这意味着不能用gift card,也不能用点数+现金(例如Amazon用MR点数立马减价),但通过promotion code打折减价则是可以的;
  • 物品必须要在美国(包括波多黎各、维珍群岛、关岛等海外属地)境内购买;
  • 必须要先找商家退,商家拒绝之后才能找Amex。实际操作上,如果客观已经超出退货期限,那么直接找Amex退也可以;
  • Amex要求物品在退货时还能使用,并且没有明显使用痕迹(“Items must be in working order, and not be visibly used or worn.”);
  • Return Protection必须在购买物品之日起90天内发起,注意是交易发起的时间,不是交易入账或者到货的时间;
  • 有一些特定的产品不在退货保护范围之内(见附录)。

3. 操作流程

你可以通过在线或者打电话两种方式发起Return Protection的申请,地址/电话号码为:

考虑到电话客服也就是帮你填表,最好的办法还是自己在线填。填好之后Amex会向你索取一份包含单个物品价格的收据(itemized receipt),用以确认物品的价格。此外还有可能会要一份信用卡账单,证明你的确是用Amex信用卡支付了全部金额。

交上去之后理论上就只要等待了,不排除Amex需要进一步的资料,但根据我这次的经验,如果符合规定,资料齐全,可能直接批准你的请求,把货款以statement credit的形式退给你。。

4. 实战一则

我今年三月在John Varvatos买了一条牛仔裤,但到货的时候正在外地做实验,回到家一看裤子太小了(呃,在外公款吃喝长胖了?),但此时已经过了退货期限,于是找Amex退货。

首先登陆Amex Online Claim Center的网站,有Amex账户的话直接点击右边的“ENTER CLAIMS CENTER NOW”:

登陆之后你会看到Amex账户下所有的信用卡,这里点击用来购买物品的卡。例如我是用奔驰白金卡买的,那就得用这张卡来claim,不能点SPG卡:

点进去会看到所有的claim都集中在一起,大家可以看到Purchase Protection也可以在这里发起,但因为是退货,所以点Return Protection右边的“Start a Refund Request”:

点进去之后会看到许多信息,之前我们已经介绍过了。这里需要填入的是Date of Loss,按照字面翻译是“物品损失的日期”,但因为我们是退货,物品并未损毁,所以我填的就是发起Return Protection的日期,然后再点“START YOUR CLAIM”:

进入之后会要求填入个人信息,地址是你的billing address;

之后填写物品信息,注意最下面价格部分是含税价格,不能包括运费。这里可以填写多个物品(但不能超过25个),每个物品都需要有各自的描述和价格,通过下面的“ADD ITEM”添加。完成后点“NEXT”:

填好之后下一个环节要求你解释为什么要退货,以及为什么商家不愿意接受退货:

填完之后你会看到一个review,信息无误的话就可以提交了!

在提交之后你会收到一串数字(Claim Number),你可以通过这个数字查询当前claim的进度:

提交之后当天就收到了Amex的确认邮件:

仅仅一天之后我就收到了Amex邮件,向我索要商家的收据,效率真的很高:

通过邮件里的链接进入上传中心,我用了两个文件(在Adobe Acrobat中合并),第一个是随裤子到的纸质receipt,第二个是下单之后收到的确认邮件:

提交完之后就是等了,大概三个礼拜(YMMV)的样子收到Amex的邮件,告知claim已经通过,货款将以statement credit的形式返还到信用卡上。

由此可见Amex的退货保护流程是非常简单和人性化的,我没有用过其他几家的退货保护政策所以不好评价,希望有经历的读者朋友分享dp。

结束之前再和大家强调一下骗保是联邦重罪。好福利可以用,但不要滥用。

附录:不符合Amex退货保护的物品列表

  • 1. animals and living plants;
  • 2. one-of-a-kind items (including, but not limited to, antiques, artwork, and furs);
  • 3. limited edition items;
  • 4. going-out-of-business sale items;
  • 5. consumable or perishable items with limited life spans (including, but not limited to, food, perfume, light bulbs, and batteries); 这一点值得注意,耗材是不能退的;
  • 6. jewelry (including, but not limited to, loose gems, precious stones, metals, and pearls);
  • 7. watches;
  • 8. services and additional costs (including, but not limited to, installation charges, warranties, shipping, handling or memberships);
  • 9. rare and precious coins;
  • 10. purchased used and/or altered items (including, but not limited to, purchases at auction sites and second-hand stores);
  • 11. custom-built items; 这意味着刻了字的东西就不符合了;
  • 12. compact discs, digital video discs, mini discs, audiotapes, videotapes;
  • 13. computer software;
  • 14. firmware (including, but not limited to, console games, etc.);
  • 15. maps;
  • 16. books, magazines or periodicals of any kind;
  • 17. health care items and /or medical equipment (including, but not limited to, blood pressure machines and diabetes equipment, items or supplies used for maternity care);
  • 18. personal hygiene items (including, but not limited to, all electrical or non-electrical toothbrushes, razors, or any devices (medical or non-medical) that have been personally used and could be considered a health risk to others);
  • 19. formal wear (including, but not limited to, bridal wear, gowns, prom dresses, and tuxedos); 一般的正装没问题,这里说的是特别正式的服装;
  • 20. tickets of any kind (including, but not limited to, transportation passes or tickets and event tickets); 所以机票不能退;
  • 21. motorized vehicles (including, but not limited to, cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and airplanes), their parts and accessories (e.g. car battery) as well as those parts and accessories intended for use with the motorized vehicles (e.g. a trailer or audio or visual components);
  • 22. land, buildings and fixtures (including but not limited to, central air conditioner, built-in kitchen appliance and water heater);
  • 23. firearms;
  • 24. ammunition;
  • 25. negotiable instruments (including, but not limited to, promissory notes, stamps, and travelers checks);
  • 26. cash and its equivalent (including, but not limited to, gift cards and gift certificates); GC不能退;
  • 27. items permanently affixed to home, office, vehicles, etc. (including, but not limited to, garage door openers and car alarms);
  • 28. seasonal items (including but not limited to holiday decorations and costumes).
