  • This card no longer accepts new applications. If you are lucky to have this legacy credit card, you can still enjoy its original benefits.

Benefits

  1. For your first $6,500 in purchases in a Reward Year (12 billing periods in a row beginning with the one that starts in the calendar month in which your Card account anniversary occurs), you will receive 1% on Everyday Purchases, and 0.5% on other purchases. After your first $6,500 in purchases, you will receive 5% on Everyday Purchases up to $50,000 and 1% on other purchases.
  2. No annual fee.
  3. With this card, you can get access to Amex Offer, which usually offers very good discounts at some stores, such as: spend $15 or more and get $5 back at Walmart; spend $75 or more and get $25 back on Amazon.com.

Disadvantages

  1. Only first $50,000 purchases per Reward Year (12 billing periods in a row beginning with the one that starts in the calendar month in which your Card account anniversary occurs) on Everyday Purchases can earn 5% cash back, after that you can only earn 1%.
  2. This card has been removed from the official website, although you can still apply using our application link, but this link may fail at any time.
  3. According to the definition by American Express, Target Walmart and Costco don’t count as supermarkets, and you can only get 1x when shopping there.
  4. This credit card is on American Express Network, not Visa or MasterCard, so some small stores may not accept it.
  5. This card does not have sign-up bonus.
  6. The 5% bonus categories are limited within the United States. Well, the Foreign Transaction Fee exists anyway, so better not use it outside the US.

Recommended Application Time

  1. AmEx doesn’t care about the number of hard pulls.
  2. You can try to apply for it when you have a credit history of 3 months.
  3. Only one AmEx credit card can be approved in a day. This rule does not apply to charge cards, you can be approved for one credit card and multiple charge cards in the day. Multiple cards approved in the same day will only have one Hard Pull.
  4. Only 2 AmEx credit cards can be approved within 90 days, but again, this rule does not apply to charge cards.
  5. You can keep at most 5 AmEx credit cards, not including charge cards.

Summary

This card is only suitable for who spend really a lot at supermarkets. The correct way to use this credit card is very simple and crude: spend a lot of money on it, and then enjoy the supermarket 5% high cash back after spending $6500!
