Benefits

  3. Earn 3x Alaska Miles on eligible Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, dining and foreign purchases; and 1x Alaska Miles on all other purchases.
  4. Annual Global 25K Companion Award for a travel companion on the same itinerary, when booking travel using your Atmos™ Rewards points. Additionally, receive a Global 100K Companion Award every year you spend 60,000 or more on purchases in that anniversary year.
  5. Receive 8 Alaska Lounge passes and 8 Wi-Fi passes each year (2 of each per calendar quarter).

  1. $395 annual fee, NOT waived for the first year.

Recommended Application Time

  1. We recommend you apply for this card after you have a credit history of at least one year.
  2. 2/3/4 Rule: BoA will only approve you for at most: 2 cards per rolling 2 months; 3 cards per rolling 12 months; and 4 cards per rolling 24 months. Because their IT system hasn’t been fully updated yet, you may not get declined because of this rule. Instead, you may get approved at first, and then the account will be closed because of “approved in error”.
  3. 24 month churn rule: This card will not be available to you if you currently have or have had the card in the preceding 24 month period.

Summary

This premium card’s welcome offer is definitely worth it, but its long-term value is questionable. The $395 annual fee isn’t really offset by any easy-to-use credits. The biggest highlight is clearly the 3x miles on all foreign transactions. If you can figure out a way to manufacture spend across borders, then this card could have some unique value.
