One Table To Help You Understand Marriott Bonvoy Co-branded Cards Welcome Offer Eligibility (2023.2 Update: Major New Restrictions)

[2023.2 Major Update]

USCardForum user juanxincai noticed that major new restrictions are now applied to some of the Marriott co-branded cards.

On AmEx Marriott Brilliant, the new terms read:

Basically it says if you have or have had any of the Chase Marriott co-branded cards in the past 30 days, you are not eligible for the welcome offer for this AmEx card. In order to get the welcome offer, you will have to close all the Chase Marriott co-branded card and then wait for 30 days.

It seems that the terms on AmEx Marriott Business has not been changed yet.

On the other hand, on Chase Marriott Bountiful, the new terms read:

Basically it also says if you have or have had any of the AmEx Marriott co-branded cards in the past 30 days, you are not eligible for the welcome offer for this Chase card.

It seems that the terms on Chase Marriott Boundless has not been changed yet.

It is uncertain whether they will change the welcome offer terms on all of the Marriott co-branded cards very soon. If you still want to have both AmEx and Chase co-branded cards, it is better to act fast before they apply the new terms on more cards.

Explanations on the marks: you can’t get approved if:

  • Now: you have this card now.
  • Now/30: you have this card now or have had it in the past 30 days.
  • 90: you have acquired this card in the past 90 days. “Acquired” includes card application and card conversion.
  • 24: you have obtained a welcome offer or upgrade offer on this card.
  • Lifetime: you have had this card in your lifetime.
  • OK: no restriction, you can get approved and get the welcome offer.

Thanks to FrequentMiler who provided the idea how to visualize these restrictions.
