How to Use VPN to Get Increased Sign-up Bonuses from AmEx (via Incognito Mode) (2018.10 Update: Available via Referral Links As Well Now)

2018.10 Update: Previously you can only see this kind of incognito offers via public links, and the offers generated by referral links are fixed. But recently AmEx has changed their referral system, people find that we can see higher incognito offers via referral links as well! See this post for more details.

2017.4.25 Update: Recently there are a lot of data points reporting that they were not able to see the incognito mode offers. However, today the big offers are back! All of them are there again. If the big offers are gone again in the future, don’t feel odd: these big offers indeed come and go.

In How to find Amex best offers, we introduced the Pre-qualify method and incognito mode method to find Amex best offers, such as Amex EveryDay 25k offer and Blue Cash Everyday $250 offer. For people who already have an Amex card, the incognito mode is the only way to get the big offers. Some time ago, we could directly see the offers in incognito mode or after clearing cookies, but now they seem to have disappeared for some people and many people think these big offers have already died. But this is not true! All incognito big offers are still there actually, but how can we see them?

Data Points (1,2,3) show that the offers are actually different for different locations! So if you can’t see the desired offer, you can try to change you location with the help of VPN!

The VPN method is not sophisticated: with the help of VPN, change your IP address to Dallas, then it will be easy to see the big Amex offers! We use ExpressVPN as an example to show the detailed steps but other VPNs are similar.

ExpressVPN is the world’s leading VPN provider, and it supports all platforms including macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. It is not a free software, but it is affordable and comes with a rock-solid 30 day money back guarantee. You may also find the software to be highly useful for everyday usage. A VPN can:

✅ Let you unblock geo-restricted content (Including credit card offers and international Netflix)
✅ Protect you from hackers and cybercriminals (password & credit card number theft for example)
✅ Let you browse the web anonymously (hide your traffic from ISPs, governments etc.)

After downloading and payment, now we open ExpressVPN:

Because I have already used it once, the location is Dallas by default. If it’s your first use, the default location is somewhere else, you need to click the “Select Another Location” to change it to Dallas. Then click Connect!

After successful connection, I open Google Chrome in incognito mode, I can see the big offers except the ED 25k offer and BCE $250 offer, and they all disappeared after a refresh. Then I tried to clear the cookies, and on the Amex official site, all offers came back! Including ED 25k and BCE $250! So if you can’t see any big offers, you should try VPN+clear the cookies.

How to clear cookies in Google Chrome: Settings -> Show advanced settings -> Under “Privacy”, choose Content settings -> Under “Cookies”, choose All cookies and site data -> Remove all or just remove all americanexpress.com related.

Go for the big offers if you need them! Wish you get what you want!
