JP Morgan Reserve Review

This is a new card only for JP Morgan Private Client. It replaced JP Morgan Palladium. Its benefits are identical to Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR).

Application Link

  • JP Morgan Reserve. Note that this is only a benefit page, not the application link. You need to contact your private banker to apply.

Benefits

  1. Earn 100,000 Ultimate Rewards (UR) points after spending $4000 in the first 3 months! This is the best offer for UR cards in recent years. Although the official website does not mention about the sign-up bonus, you can ask your private banker to confirm.
  2. Each year (each 12 billing cycles starting after your December statement date through the following December statement date), automatically receive up to $300 in statement credits as reimbursement for travel purchases such as airfare and hotels charged to your card.
  3. Ultimate Rewards (UR) points are earned by this card. If these UR points are used to transfer to UA miles, they are worth about 1.6 cents/point; if they are used to transfer to Hyatt points, they can be worth about 1.8 cents/point (Bank & Credit Card Points Value); even if you redeem them for travel directly in the official UR page, it is worth 1.5 cents/point straight! This makes the 100K sign-up bonus worth at least $1500, and potentially about $2000! For more information about Ultimate Rewards (UR), see Maximize the Credit Card Points Values (overview) and Review of Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) (very detailed).
  4. This card allows you to transfer any UR points that you have earned to Airlines or Hotels. As an added benefit, all UR points, including those earned by a Chase Freedom or CFU, can be combined and transferred/used.
  5. Earn 3x points on travel and dining. Earn 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases. Chase is known to be quite flexible with their definition of travel and includes merchants such as Uber and some public transportation.
  6. Visa Infinite benefits, including: Visa Infinite Hotel Collection, Visa Infinite Hotel Privileges, Visa Infinite Car Rental Privileges. But note that the $100 air discount benefit is NOT included.
  7. Complimentary Priority Pass Select (PPS) card.
  8. Up to $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre application fee.
  9. It is a metal card, and is really heavy: 27g, rank #1 in the most heavy credit cards list after Chase Ritz-Carlton is discontinued.
  10. No foreign transaction fee.
  11. Primary car rental insurance.

Disadvantages

  1. You can apply for this card only if you are a JP Morgan Private Client (not CPC!), to be short, you need $10 million assets in Chase.
  2. Annual fee $595, NOT waived first year. $75 annual fee for each authorized user.

Summary

You can apply for this card only if you are a JP Morgan Private Client. This card is a duplicate for Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR). The value of this card is that JP Morgan Private Client client can get another sign-up bonus.

  • Chase reconsideration backdoor number: 888-270-2127 or 888-609-7805. Call it if you didn’t get approve immediately. Your personal information will be acquired and they will then review it. You seldom answer questions, instead, just enjoy the music and then you get approved or rejected, or further information is needed to be hand in to the branch or faxed.
